The Mervin and Marilea Poths Family
Mervin
Charles Poths, son of Wilbur and Esther (Balduff) Poths, was born on July 4,
1925, and raised in Sandusky, Ohio. He
graduated from Sandusky High School and served in World War II in the Army Air
Corp. He married Marilea Joan Jamison on
April 7, 1946, in Dallas County, Iowa, at the Granger United Methodist
Church. Marilea was born on November 1,
1927, in Van Meter, Iowa, the daughter of Chester and Fern Pearl (Reigle)
Jamison.
They moved to a farm near Woodburn in
1954. Mervin owned Poths Feed and Grain
in Woodburn and purchased and hauled grain for the area farmers for many
years. Mervin was a member of the
Woodburn American Legion, Herndon-Oehlert Post #157 American Legion and the
Lucas County Cattleman’s Association.
Marilea was a member of the Woodburn Legion Auxiliary Unit #157 and a
very active member of the Woodburn Methodist Church and taught Bible school for
many years. She passed away at their
home near Woodburn on January 30, 2011.
Mervin passed away on September
14, 2012. Their children are Sheryl and
Ron.
