Klein

            Ferdinand John “Jack” Klein, son of John Petre and Garnet Fay (Van Note) Klein, was born January 31, 1932, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota.   He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.   He married Helen Hoaglin on August 20, 1957, in Des Moines.   
            Jack and Helen moved their family to Woodburn in the early 1960’s.   Jack worked for John Deere in Des Moines as a welder and retired in 1987.  After retirement, he had a small welding and repair shop in Woodburn, where he would fix just about anything.  
            Jack was Past Grand Master of the Unity Lodge No. 3212 A.F. & A.M.  He was a former member of the Woodburn Eastern Star and member of the Orphir Chapter No. 267 Order of the Eastern Star.   He was a member of the Herndon-Oehlert Post No. 157 of the American Legion in Woodburn.   He enjoyed playing the guitar with Johnny Stearns and others in the area.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and mostly enjoyed time with his family.  
            Jack died on October 2, 2007, and Helen died in October, 2007 .   They are buried at the Woodburn Cemetery.   Their children:  Leonard, Patricia, Cyndi, Linda and Kathy.
