         Ralph W. Jones, son of Delmar and Julia (Pottoroff) Jones, was born September 13, 1918, in West Grove, Davis Co., Iowa.    He graduated from Davis County High School in Bloomfield.  He married Irene Catherine Sheehey on June 30, 1943, in Churchville.   Irene was born on June 8, 1922, in Prole, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Mary Sheehey.
         In 1955, Ralph and Irene purchased the Neal Clark farm south of Woodburn.   They moved there from Milo, Iowa.    In the 1970’s, an additional 240 acres was bought from Stanley Woods south of the farm on the White Breast Creek bottom.  The Jones’ were members of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Woodburn.   Irene served on the parish council for several years.    After retiring from farming, they moved to Indianola in 1981 and sold the farm in 1994.      Ralph was a member of the American Legion, Post 157 of Woodburn and a World War II veteran.   He passed away on December 28, 1999, in Des Moines.   Irene lived in Indianola after Ralph's death and the last few years has lived with Mary in Des Moines.   Their children are Ronald Leo and Mary Lynn [Gass].
