Dorothy (Mason) and Ernest Woods

            Ernest K. Woods was born October 1, 1920, in Woodburn, Iowa, the son of John Henry and Emma (Koble) Woods.  He married Dorothy M. Mason on December 14, 1946, at Troy, Kansas. Dorothy was born September 23, 1929, in Clarke County, the daughter of Charles E. and Margaret C. (Sloan) Mason. 

             They farmed for several years, and later Ernest was postmaster and rural mail carrier in Clarke County.  They were members of the Woodburn Christian Church, American Legion and Auxiliary, South Central Iowa Fox Hunters Association, Rural Carrier and Postmaster Organization and the local PTA.  

            Ernest passed away on May 11, 1987, and is buried in the Woodburn Cemetery.  Dorothy now lives in Osceola.    Their children:  John H., Jerry D., James M. and Janet M. [Garton].

Also children of John Henry and Emma (Koble) Woods that lived in Woodburn for many years -

Olin Stanley, born June 23, 1932.  Stanley served in the U.S. Army as a airplane and engine mechanic in the Korean War from 1954 - 1956.   He married Loretta Webb on June 11, 1954.  They had three children:  Lisa, Laura, and Steve.  They were divorced and he married Betty      Cobb on April 4, 1964.  Stanley was a farmer and machine operator.  He was a member of the Woodburn Christian Church.  He passed away on August 1,    1990, and is buried at the Woodburn Cemetery.

Johnny Ober Woods, born on May 17, 1915, near Woodburn.  He served in World War II.  Johnny married Juanita Marie Smith on December 20, 1952, at Chariton, Iowa.  Juanita is the daughter of Harry and Hazel Smith and was born in Lucas County.  They lived in the Woodburn area and farmed from 1952 to 1976.  They now live in Osceola.  Their children:  Sharon [Morris], Evelyn [Carlson], Linda, and Sheila [Landers].
