Floyd “Mike” Webb was born on July 12, 1907, in Leroy, Iowa.  When he was a small child, his family moved to Van Wert, Iowa.  His dad drove a dray wagon from the railroad depot to the hotel, and his mother operated the hotel.  Mike graduated from Van Wert High School in 1924 at age 16.  He married Eva Sink in 1928.  Eva was born in Murray, Iowa, on March 2, 1909, and at age 14 her family moved to Van Wert.  Mike and Eva lived in Dallas, Madison, and Decatur counties before moving to Clarke County in 1937.

In 1944, Mike sold the farm and they moved into Woodburn into a house bought from Mrs. Ella (Hootman) Coppock.  They lived in this home for 40 years.  In 1944, Mike worked for Gardner’s Grocery, driving a grocery truck and also picking up cream and eggs.  Eva clerked for them.  After leaving the employment of the Gardners, Mike worked for Russel Boor, Willie Davenport, Seth Hootman and Edward Horton.  From 1948 until 1949, Eva operated the E & H Cafe.  In December, 1949, they bought the grocery store from Clifford “Punch” and Mary Lou Mason.  They operated the store until health forced them to sell in 1959.  Mike worked in Chariton for Montgomery Wards until retirement, then part-time for Coast to Coast until shortly before his final illness.
Mike and Eva were active in community affairs, never missing a basketball game.  Mike drove a school bus and was on the school board and fire department.  The family was active in the Methodist Church.   Mike died in July, 1984, and Eva died on March 14, 1995.  Their children:   Betty Jean [Davenport], Barbara [Ochanpaugh], Bonnie Lou, Bernita, and Loretta [Woods].
